We can create your ideal custom saddle pad, either in plain wool felt or with a woven top.

Custom pad is a great option if you have a very short-backed horse, or otherwise need a pad that is not a standard length, thickness or drop.

Or, maybe you simply want a pad in your favourite colours and design!

Either way, we can help your dreams come true - an Equinen custom western saddle pad is the answer!
You can have any of our existing designs made for you in your desired length and thickness at no extra cost. As long as the design patter and colours stay the same, we treat it as a normal pad, not a custom pad. However, please note that it still takes approximately 6-8 weeks to have pads made to your specification.
Creating a custom western saddle pad
Size
Your horse's comfort is the most important thing. That's why we start by determining the correct size pad for your horse.
This includes:

Pad length (front to back)

Pad drop (spine to bottom edge)

Design
Once we know what size pad your horse or pony needs, it's time to focus on the looks. When we talk about the design, we mean the pattern of the woven top. This step doesn't apply to plain felt pads.

Please note that whilst we welcome you to send us images of pad designs that you like, we will not directly copy somebody else's pad designs.
Colours
Once you know what design you want, it's time to talk about colours. Each design has a certain number of colours, normally between 3-7 different ones.
We will discuss your colour preferences with you, and help you choose colours that go well together.

Woven top pads
Woven top pads all have a contoured spine with good wither clearance and 100% wool felt lining.

Plain felt pads
Felt pads all have a contoured spine and great wither clearance. They are made with real wool felt.

Custom pad order process
Book a slot
Once you have decided that you want to order a custom pad, head over to our online store and purchase Custom Pad Deposit, either for a felt pad or woven top pad. This is a digital product where you receive a custom order form to your email.
Please note that the custom pad deposits are non-refundable, so if you have any questions before purchasing, please email us - we'd love to help you!
Fill out order form
Fill out all the details in the custom pad order form, and return the completed form to us by email. Please fill out the form on computer, or if you prefer to print it our and write by hand, please make sure all the information is clear and easily readable.
Discuss details
Once we receive the order form from you, we go through it and contact you if we need to clarify anything regarding your pad order.

For woven pads, we draw a sketch of your pad, with your chosen design and colours, and email this to you for approval. This is the time to make any final changes to your pad design or colours, and up to three design changes are included in the custom pad price.
Pay balance
After all the details regarding your pad have been finalised and confirmed, we send you an invoice for the balance of your pad and postage.

Please note that since each custom pad is made to order, they are non-refundable unless there is a manufacturing fault.
Production starts
Pad production starts after full payment has been received. It takes approximately 6-8 weeks for your custom pad to be made, and we will send you an email to let you know of the estimated delivery date approximately a week before the pad will arrive to you.
Pad is delivered
When the pad arrives to us, we will check it through thoroughly to make sure it is exactly as you ordered it. We will then post it to you with either Royal Mail or a reputable courier company. You will receive a tracking code for the parcel, so that you know when it will be delivered.
